The origin of the house can be found in the mid-18th century, like the rest of the large farmhouses on Carrer Major (the neighboring Can Serra dates back to 1746). The first family we know of to own it was the Seguí family, and, in the 19th century, the Sandiumenge family, who gave their name to the house.
This old farmhouse has two floors and an attic. The rehabilitation and renovation in 2003 were carried out by the municipal company ADSA. Despite some modifications, such as the opening of new windows to adapt the building to current needs, a good part of the volumes of the house were preserved.
Inside, we find twelve social rental apartments for seniors over 65 years of age. These homes, between 40 and 47 m2, have a dining room with kitchen, a bathroom and a bedroom. The building has no architectural barriers and the apartments have an environmentally efficient heating and hot water system. Outside, residents can enjoy a communal garden area.
One of the most unique elements of the house are the mural paintings on the staircase, which are currently framed, stylistically dated between 1790 and 1810. Initially, this set of neoclassical paintings adorned the room, and have been recovered and reinstalled in this passage area.
