VI Jujol-UPC Chair and Rosa Gres Drawing Competition
At the Tower of the Cross.
From October 22 to 25, 2026.
Opening Thursday, October 22 at 7:00 p.m.
The sixth edition of the Jujol Chair International Drawing Competition – Rosa Gr aims to explore the work of the architect and artist Josep Maria Jujol (1879-1949) through two complementary gestures: recording, as an act of direct observation of the constructed work, and evocation, as free interpretation, memory and imagination. Each participant has freely chosen a work by Jujol in Barcelona, Sant Joan Despí or Camp de Tarragona to reinterpret it through drawing, from analytical, sensitive, poetic or experimental approaches.
The main objective of the Drawing Competition is to promote the study and dissemination of this brilliant architect and bring him closer to university students.
The competition, organized by the Jujol Chair of the Polytechnic University of Catalonia UPC Barcelona Tech, is sponsored by the ceramics company ROSA GRES, with the collaboration of the Sant Joan Despí City Council.
The participants chose between two modalities: in situ drawing, made from a visit to the site, with manual techniques (pencil, watercolor, ink, mixed techniques), and interpretive drawing, made from bibliography or archive material, through redrawing, collage, photomontage or mixed techniques.
This call has brought together a hundred participants from 14 university centers, from Poland, Italy, Portugal, Mexico and Spain, including Cracow University of Technology, Università degli Studi di Ferrara, Universidade Lusófona, UAEMéx, UNAM, UCM, University of Alicante, University of Seville, University of Zaragoza, the University of Barcelona and the UPC (EPSEB and ETSAB), among others.
This year there are two new features: the awards ceremony and the exhibition are part of the Barcelona 2026 World Capital of Architecture program, and a group of congress participants from the XXI International EGA Congress, held at the ETSAB (UPC), has made a special selection of the drawings presented, with an honorable mention for the authors.
